Blackberry
We tried the Blackberry Z30 smartphone, a smooth and elegant device. Although Blackberry is not the status symbol it once was, the Z30 proves the company still has fight left.
In a nutshell, the design is smart and rich while at the same time solid with a feeling of quality. The 5″ screen is bright as well as touch sensitive and reactive to movements. The keyboard is superb, with corrective and predictive text technology. Blackberry Hub does what the brand is famous for: managing messages. It is like a silent personal assistant, always able to organize. An 8-megapixel camera was the main feature we tested during Press Days (for images using the camera see: http://www.pinterest.com/theglare/) The camera was excellent (7.5/10) for capturing images of upcoming fashion looks, and thanks to the 16GB of internal storage we had plenty of space for images. Additionally, the camera includes touch-to-focus features with image stabilization as well as Time shift mode. The smartphone also features a 2-megapixel forward camera.
The Blackberry Operating System is seamless and fluid; the best way to describe it is like leaf on water. It is easy to navigate around the software on the screen by touch and slide.
Internet connection was fast with Wi-Fi. The Mini-ports on the side were handy for connecting to the PC to download pictures. Battery life is good, up to 25 hours making the need for daily recharge less urgent.
For those few Blackberry loyalists left, the Z30 shows their faith is in the right place.
